Holt Introduces MIL-STD-1553 Development Kit with PCIe Interface

Thursday, October 3, 2013

Mission Viejo, CA (October 3, 2013) - Holt Integrated Circuits today announced the introduction of a new MIL-STD-1553 development kit with a PCI Express (PCIe) interface. The kit is based on Holt’s popular 3.3V BC/MT/RT multi-terminal device, HI-6130, and interfaces with a PCIe slot on a Windows 7 personal computer.

The MIL-STD-1553 PCIe development kit is a fully functional MIL-STD-1553B dual redundant bus interface which can operate up to four independent terminals: Bus Controller, Monitor Terminal and up to two Remote Terminals. It may be used right out of the box and comes bundled with Holt’s high-level Application Program Interface (API) software library. In addition, two example projects (including source code) demonstrate typical MIL-STD-1553 application requirements. Customers may use the kit as a MIL-STD-1553 test and simulation board or utilize the development tools and source code provided as the basis of a custom design.

This reference design also shows how the HI-6130 can be connected to the computer PCI Express bus using a bridge chip and programmable logic array. The API Library permits C language programming without detailed familiarity with the register-level HI-6130 operations.

“Holt continues to satisfy customer needs by supplying excellent tools and support for its products, minimizing customer development time and cost,” said Anthony Murray, Director of Business Development at Holt.

The MIL-STD-1553 PCIe interface kits are available from Holt on request.
