Development Kit for 3.3V MIL-STD-1553 Dual Transceiver with Variable Transmit Amplitude

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

Mission Viejo, CA (December 17, 2014) - Holt Integrated Circuits today introduced a new application development kit to support its recently announced HI-1590, a 3.3V MIL-STD-1553 dual transceiver with SPI-programmable transmit amplitude. The ADK-1590 is a standalone kit which connects directly to a MIL-STD-1553 bus. It includes a microcontroller for demonstrating SPI programmable features, with Holt’s HI-6131 protocol IC to interface with the transceiver. The included software demonstrates all key features of the HI-1590, including receiver sensitivity evaluation and transmitter output amplitude control via SPI or analog voltage input.

The HI-1590 is the world’s only 3.3V MIL-STD-1553 dual bus transceiver with variable transmit amplitude on the market today. Transmit amplitude may be varied from 0 to 26 Vp-p and is controlled by programming an internal Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) via a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) or using an analog DC control voltage. In SPI mode, a low range option provides improved resolution for low-level transmission from zero to 4.9 Vp-p. The new device is pin-compatible with Holt’s already popular 5V HI-1570 and is designed for use with Holt MIL-STD-1553 isolation transformers.

“Holt application development kits provide customers with a ready-to-use resource for new product evaluation,” said Anthony Murray, Holt’s Director of Marketing Communications. “The included software provides customers with a solid starting point for new product development, ensuring faster design cycles and short time to market.”

The ADK-1590 is available immediately.
