Analog Switch Featuring Open-Circuit when Powered Off

Friday, December 09, 2011

Mission Viejo, CA (December 9, 2011) –  Holt Integrated Circuits, a leading supplier of data bus IC’s for commercial and military avionics, today announced an expansion of its Analog Switch family with the release of three new products.  Targeted for multiplexing the ARINC 429 communication bus, these products offer a feature that is useful for any application that requires the switch to be open circuit when power is off. Switch On-Resistance (RON) is 28 ohm maximum and within 10% flat across a +/ 5V Common Range.   These products operate from a 3.3V or 5V logic supply and an analog supply which can range from +/− 10V to +/− 15V.

The HI-8195/HI-8196/HI-8197 are quad single-pole/single-throw (SPST) switches that are open-circuit anytime all the supply pins are Ground. The HI-8195 has four normally open (NO) switches, the HI-8196 has four normally closed (NC) switches and the HI-8197 has two NO and two NC switches.  The devices are fabricated on a robust silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology for latch-up free operation and maximum isolation, with low off-state leakage. Switching operation is break-before-make.

Holt’s analog switch products are ideal for use in harsh environments such as avionics or industrial automation applications,” said Anthony Murray, Director of Business Development at Holt. “These particular switches are highly suited for applications that demand a switch have no leakage when the board is powered off.”

The devices are available in industrial −40oC to +85oC and extended −55oC to +125oC temperature ranges and come in 16‑pin SOIC and 5mm x 5mm 16-pin QFN packages.
