Bloomy Selects Holt’s HI-6131 for MIL-STD-1553B C Series Module

Mission Viejo, CA (December 20, 2016) - Holt Integrated Circuits (Holt) announced today that Bloomy Controls, Inc. (Bloomy) has chosen its Multi-Terminal BC/MT/2RT MIL-STD-1553B solution, the HI-6131PQI, and PM-DB2791S low-profile isolation transformers, for use in the Bloomy BCI-1553 C Series Module. The module from Bloomy provides a standards-compliant MIL-STD-1553B avionic bus interface for the National Instruments (NI) CompactRIO platform. Typical applications addressed by Bloomy with its BCI-1553 module include systems integration lab data systems and hardware-in-the-loop validation of embedded controls.

Because the HI-6131 is capable of acting as any choice of terminal (BC, RT or MT) concurrently and efficiently, it is the ideal choice for use in the compact BCI-1553 module. The flexibility of the Holt interface solution plus the power of the CompactRIO platform provides engineers with a wide variety of MIL-STD-1553B solutions for aerospace industry use, ranging from testing avionics devices to embedding terminals in the rugged CompactRIO form factor.


The HI-6131 is a MIL-STD-1553B Multi-Terminal IC with on-chip dual transceivers, available in plastic 64-pin QFP or 9 x 9 mm QFN packages. The device integrates a Bus Controller, Monitor Terminal and two independent Remote Terminals, all capable of operating concurrently. Host communication is via a compact 4-wire Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). Message information and data are stored in the on-chip 32K x 16-bit static RAM which has an optional error detection/correction capability. In addition, a second SPI port is available to read data from an external serial EEPROM, enabling optional auto-configuration of the internal RAM, registers and host interrupts.

 

Bloomy incorporates the functionality of the HI-6131 into its BCI-1553 C Series module and makes the basic RT, MT or BC functionality available to end users with ready-to-use LabVIEW drivers. An advanced mode driver provides access to the full functionality of the Holt interface solution, including using multiple modes simultaneously and accessing the configuration EEPROM. The advanced functionality mode also allows fault insertion, such as parity error and bit error injection. The module is supplied with access to all drivers, sample code and comprehensive documentation to allow users to rapidly develop custom applications.
