New gTools ARINC 429 Bus Analyzer from Gables Engineering Uses Holt ARINC 429 Interface ICs

Friday, February 21, 2014

Mission Viejo, CA (February 20, 2014) - Holt Integrated Circuits today announced that Gables Engineering selected its ARINC 429 BUS INTERFACE ICs for use in the new Gables gTools ARINC Bus Analyzer. Gables gTools is an ARINC 429 bus analyzer that was initially developed for internal use. It worked so well that Gables Engineering decided to offer it as a new product.

Gables gTools hardware connects to a host computer via a USB 2.0 cable which provides all needed power. The four input and two output ARINC 429 channels can be independently configured for data bus speed and parity. The user can assign unique Hardware ID’s for each ARINC receive channel. Combined with custom label definitions, these features provide flexible ARINC 429 data interpretation. In the near future, Gables gTools will use built in Wi-Fi to work wirelessly with an Apple iPadTM.

Gables Engineering selected the Holt HI-8444 Quad ARINC 429 Line Receiver and HI-8596 3.3V Single-Rail ARINC 429 Line Driver for the gToolsTM hardware design.

“The Holt HI-8444 ARINC line receiver was selected because it implemented all four required receive channels in a single device. The single-supply HI-8596 ARINC line driver was chosen because its integrated voltage step-up and inverter charge pumps greatly simplified the design,” according to Jorge Vasiliadis, Gables Senior Design Engineer.

“Holt is delighted that Gables Engineering selected our single-supply ARINC 429 devices for such an innovative product,” said George Noh, Holt Director of Sales & Marketing.

Holt offers a complete portfolio of ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 717, ARINC 825 (CAN) and Discrete-to-Digital ICs, providing solutions for avionics and military applications. All products are DO-254 certifiable, providing Holt customers an efficient and cost effective path to certification.
