Development Kits for 3.3V 10Mbit/sec EBR-1553 (MMSI)

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Mission Viejo, CA (August 15, 2013) – Holt Integrated Circuits, a world leader in communications bus IC’s for the avionics and military industries, today announced the introduction of development kits for a 3.3V, 10Mbit/sec EBR-1553 solution. The kits include all necessary hardware, software (including source code) and feature Holt’s HI-6140, an integrated terminal designed for Enhanced Bit Rate 10Mbps MIL-STD-1553 or MIL-STD-1760 applications, such as Miniature Munitions Stores Interface (MMSI) or EBR-1553.

Two development kits are available. The first, ADK-6140BC, is specifically designed for star-topology AS5652 MMSI Bus Controller applications. This kit implements an MMSI Logical Hub using a Holt HI-6140 EBR-1553 protocol IC with interface logic and RS-485 transceivers (Holt HI-4853) for the physical layer interface. A total of 4 of the possible 31 hub-RT links are realized. The board may be programmed to implement all three AS5652 modes, namely Spec, Switch and Link address modes. The second kit, ADK-6140RT, consists of a circuit board with HI-6140 and RS-485 transceivers and supports AS5652 MMSI Remote Terminals. This kit may be used with ADK-6140BC as one of the hub-RT links to implement a complete MMSI system. Each kit has a detachable ARM Cortex M3 MCU board which provides the necessary programmability for various applications.

All kits include an IAR Embedded Workbench® for ARM® evaluation version CD from IAR Systems®. IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM is a fully functional integrated development environment including project management tools, optimizing C/C++ compiler and debug interface for all ARM and Cortex variants. The ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller boards includes a “J-Link On Board” debug interface, providing easy connectivity to the IAR Systems tools via a standard USB cable provided with the kit.

“Holt’s goal is to provide customers with the necessary tools to minimize design time, reduce costs and improve time to market,” said Anthony Murray, Director of Business Development at Holt. “Our development kits highlight our industry leading products and include a full suite of tools to kick-start the design process.”

The HI-6140 Development Kits are available immediately and may be requested from Holt’s website.
